WNBA: Olympic Games breakout star re-signs with Storm

France international star Gabby Williams agreed to return to the WNBA after signing a deal with the Seattle Storm until the end of the season. Originally acquired by the Storm in a 2022 trade with the Los Angeles Sparks, Williams started all 36 games that season, averaging 7.5 points and 5.0 rebounds.

Due to her willingness to prepare for the Olympic Games, the Paris 2024 silver medalist sat out the first part of the WNBA season. Last season, he opted to play for the Storm after recovering from a concussion suffered while playing for French club ASVEL.

In 10 games before a season-ending stress fracture in her left foot, Williams averaged 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds.

During the Paris 2024 Women’s Basketball Tournament, she led France to the gold medal game by averaging 15.5 points and 5.8 assists per game. Williams and her team came close to ending Team USA’s 60-game winning streak, but her excellent effort led to a one-point loss in the final.

Williams is joining a stacked team as Seattle (17-10) is a half-game behind the two-time defending champion Aces for fourth in the WNBA standings.
