WNBA: Fever survives record-breaking crowd in Atlanta behind Clark, Mitchell perfomance; Liberty cruises past Mercury

Kelsey Mitchell scored 29 points, Caitlin Clark added 19 and the Indiana Fever pulled away in the last seconds to disappoint a WNBA record Atlanta crowd by beating the Dream 84-79. Kelsey Mitchell clinched the game with two free throws in the final seconds after Atlanta missed two 3-pointers but grabbed two offensive rebounds.

The home side fumbled the possession, which led to the foul that sent Mitchell to the charity line. The Dream (10-19) started the day a half-game out of the final playoff spot, but trailed by 18 early in the second half.

Aliyah Boston had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Indiana (14-16) and Damiris Dantas scored 33 off the bench. Clark made 85 threes in the WNBA season after hitting four on Tuesday tying Rhyne Howard’s rookie record of 85.

Tina Charles scored 21 to lead Atlanta, which moved the game to the home of the Atlanta Hawks and set an attendance record of 17,608.
