Alberto Abalde has been part of the Real Madrid squad since 2020, and he will remain with the club for three more seasons after signing an extension that will keep him in White until the 2026–27 season.
Abalde, 28, won the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague in 2023, two ACB championships, one Copa del Rey, and four Supercopa Endesa titles. Before joining Madrid in 2020, he played for Valencia Basket.
He appeared in 24 EuroLeague games last season posting 3.6 points and 1.9 rebounds. He pumped up his numbers in Liga Endesa registering 5.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per contest.
The Spaniard has also been part of the Spain NT selection for various tournaments between 2016 and 2024. Abalde is seen by Real Madrid as an extra option at the swingman position, but they are still looking for another addition to replace Guerchon Yabusele.
Cedin Osman remains Real Madrid’s top target after tying Abalde to long-term deal
Real Madrid will hope to target a top-tier name and, as it has been reported, is in the mix to acquire Cedi Osman. Osman could be the answer to Real Madrid huge gap in the forward position. Osman is capable of serving as an offensive threat and defensive stopper in the game.
More importantly, he is coming off a productive stint with the rebuilding San Antonio Spurs. The Turkish international remained in the NBA for seven seasons, but he might looking at the possibility of making his return to Europe.
He had averages of 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists with the Spurs last season. He also spent six seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers between 2017-2023 before joining the Spurs last summer.
During the summer, the Whites added Andres Feliz, Serge Ibaka, Xavier Rathan-Mayes and Usman Garuba.
