Nick Calathes set a goal to reach the EuroLeague Final-4 with AS Monaco. Calathes was part of the team that beat the Monegasques last season in the series between Fenerbahce and Monaco.
The veteran leader joined his new teammates and revealed his ambition with the French league powerhouse.
“We have an experienced team with players from the highest level, but there are also many young players who bring energy and passion. Our goal is to reach the Final Four, and once you get there, anything can happen,” Nick Calathes pointed out on the AS Monaco official website.
Nick Calathes is coming off a Final-Four appearance with Fenerbahce, while he was crucial in Greece NT returning to the Olympic tournament after 2008.

The veteran point guard also touched on his partnership with Mike James as the two will accompany each other in Monaco’s backcourt this year.
“I have had good cooperation with Mike James in the past, and now I am getting to know the other guys. I think I am a good fit for the team, and I hope to help it succeed,” he noted.
James and Calathes were teammates in Panathinaikos for a couple of seasons before taking their seperate ways with the Greek guard joining FC Barcelona and the American scoring guard playing for Milan .and CSKA Moscow before joining Monaco.
Nick Calathes says transition to new environment is smooth
Nick Calathes joined a core group of players that includes Mike James, Alpha Diallo, Elie Okobo and others. He will have the role of the veteran guard in mixed perimeter that also includes youngsters Matthew Stranzel and Juhan Begarin.
Calathes knows his role as the starting point guard of the team and he has already made progress despite being among the last players to join the team for the training camp ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
“I have been here with the team for three days. I have not participated in full five-on-five practices yet, but I already feel comfortable. The team has welcomed me warmly, and I am getting to know my teammates well,” Nick Calathes admitted.
Aside from Calathes, Monaco added Juhan Begarin. Furkman Korkmaz, Giorgos Papagiannis and Vito Brown.
