“Our ceiling is very high with the new additions” – Omer Yurtseven on Panathinaikos team after preseason victory

Omer Yurtseven made a real statement in Panathinaikos victory over Bayern Munich. The Turkish center appeared ready to compete in the EuroLeague in his first full-time participation in a Panathinaikos game. Yurtseven appeared optimistic that the team’s ceiling is even higher after winning the EuroLeague last season.

“We are completely focused on developing as a team. We are just getting to know each other; Ergin Ataman is doing a great job,” the Turkish international noted in an interview on Cosmote TV (h/t Eurohoops.net).

“We want to get better every day. There is team chemistry from last year, and our ceiling is very high with the new additions to the squad.”

Yurtseven was impressive in his 16-minute appearance against Bayern on Sunday. He put up 22 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field and two made threes, along with seven rebounds. Panathinaikos dominated Bayern by beating the German powerhouse 86-69 in a preseason game taking place in Cyprus.

“I am trying to get used to my new team and so far everything is going great. I don’t think I will have any trouble getting used to the EuroLeague rules after the NBA rules because I am a player who likes to play physically.”

Yurtseven is one of three summer additions for the EuroLeague reigning champions. Lorenzo Brown and Cedi Osman also joined the club to fortify the team’s rotation and make Ergin Ataman’s side the grand favorite to win it all again.
