EuroLeague Fantasy: 3 players to consider for captain this week

EuroLeague Fantasy success is always dependent on the efficiency of the captain of the team and if he’s able to take advantage of the multiplier in that position. So we would recommend starting to make decisions on the captain position every week in order to maximize your team’s performance.

That said, you should look at every player to evaluate the efficiency and usage rating because every missed shot for him means fewer points for your EuroLeague Fantasy squad.

In any case, start your team picks with evaluating your captain’s performance every week. Here we will make three recommendations on which players should fit the role going into Round 2 action.

TJ Shorts, Paris Basketball (13.4 CR)

TJ Shorts is taking the steps to establish himself as a EuroLeague level guard this season after dominating in the BCL and the EuroCup. Paris Basketball decided to keep their star guard on the roster and gave him total control of its offense without adding extra perimeter talent this summer.

Shorts did not disappoint in his EuroLeague debut and confirmed our suspicion of evolving to a steady contributor in the EuroLeague Fantasy teams. The American guard that started his professional career in Latvia had 21 fantasy points in Paris Basketball close defeat to Crvena Zvezda shooting 54.6% from the field.

At 13.4 credits, the small-frame guard could be a nice option for your EuroLeague Fantasy team captain if you want to commit to some extra risk, especially with Paris Basketball facing an unstable and injury-ridden Milan team this week.

Neno Dimitrijevic, Olimpia Milano (9.7 CR)

We remain in the same pairing with Olimpia Milan’s starting guard, Nenad Dimitrijevic, who had an excellent Round 1 performance despite Milan’s struggles in defeat vs. Monaco. Dimitrijevic wants to prove that he belongs in the EuroLeague level and Milan’s HC Ettore Messina seems to believe in him early in the season.

The North Macedonian guard had 15.0 fantasy points in Round 1 with an exceptional stat line of 11 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. He took 8 field goals and made four of them, while he went two times in the charity stripe and had only two turnovers in 24 minutes played.

Dimitrijevic is set to be the main ball-handler for Olimpia Milan this season and if he continues to score efficiently and making a positive impact, he could be your bargain-priced captain for some rounds at least. In any case, at 9.7 EuroLeague Fantasy credits, I recommend adding the 25-year-old guard to your team regardless.

Tamir Blatt, Maccabi Tel Aviv (8.3 CR)

The cheapest option from our list. Tamir Blatt had a pretty impressive performance against ASVEL to start his EuroLeague Fantasy season on a very high note. Blatt went off for 39 EuroLeague Fantasy points behind a 21-point, 12-assist game in Maccabi’s victory.

He shot almost 89% from the field and was scorching hot from the perimeter with four made threes. Maccabi lost a lot of star-power from last season and Tamir Blatt is called to take over a bigger role as the 1st or 2nd option in the perimeter. Even if Maccabi adds Saben Lee to boost its play from outside, Blatt will remain a very active player in its offensive plan.

Getting Blatt in your EuroLeague Fantasy team could be the right move to do anyway but imagine if he can maintain a similarly efficient play-making and scoring performance as your team’s captain for some rounds. Despite having a tough road game against Monaco, I will recommend placing your trust in Blatt’s scoring instinct and taking a chance with him as your captain of your team in Round 2.
