Lonnie Walker’s name has been floating around the last few weeks after the former Spurs and Lakers wing was released by the Boston Celtics. The former first-round pick claimed that he is set to reveal his next destination soon after remaining a free agent for two weeks.
Last week, reports claimed that Lonnie Walker‘s future might be in the EuroLeague this season, with several European outlets linking him with Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid. After losing Yabusele in August, Real Madrid is still in a search for a star option in the forward position.
It remains a surprise that Walker is still a free agent after the positive impression he left with the Boston Celtics during the preseason.
“I’m only 25. All in due time! The marathon continues. I know the stars will align. Self-belief is the best belief. All apart of the story. Stay tuned,” Walker posted on his X account.
Still, that does not mean that Lonnie Walker decided to move overseas, but the hectic cap situation in many teams could keep him from finding a good enough deal in the NBA. Last season, the 18th overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft registered 9.3 points on 42/38/76 shooting splits in just 17.3 minutes per game.
He played for the Brooklyn Nets the previous season, while he has stints with the Spurs (2018-2022) and the Lakers (2022-23).
I’m only 25 🙏🏾 all in due time ! The marathon continues. I know the stars will align. Self belief is the best belief. All apart of the story. Stay tuned ⏰
