Lonnie Walker posted 18 points and helped Zalgiris Kaunas beat Anadolu Efes at home (85-72) and maintain a playoff push in the EuroLeague standings (8-6). After Thursday’s game, the American star guard said he expected to ‘get better and better’ going forward.
“There are double teams in the NBA depending on what the player is if you’re the main guy. I definitely take that with a lot of gratitude, understanding that I’m a really hard player to guard. Coming with the double teams, you continue to grow, and you continue to get better as a player. As I watch film, I can only get better and better by the day. I have only been here for a month, and I think the best is yet to come,” Lonnie Walker said. [h/t Eurohoops.net]
Lonnie Walker has appeared in seven games in the EuroLeague for the Lithuanians, having scored 18 or more points in five of them. He has averages of 16.3 points for a PIR of 13.1, on 44.2 percent from beyond the arc.
Walker and Zalgiris Kaunas will look to stay on track for the postseason, as they travel to Madrid to take on a struggling Real, which has lost eight of its first 14 games and is outside the playoff spots.
