Baskonia: Chima Moneke says he will finish his contract with the Basques

There has been speculation about Chima Moneke’s future with Baskonia lately and whether the Nigerian big man will stay with the club or will leave before the end of the season.

Moneke, though, denied these rumors and revealed that he would stay with the Basques for the remainder of the season.

“What disappointed me the most was when people began telling me personal things about myself that were not true. It really made me angry. I knew I wasn’t going anywhere and that I would be returning,” Chima Moneke told Noticias de Alava.

“I have a contract, and the contract ends next summer. I would have to sign another contract with another team, after they pay my buyout. And I am not signing another contract. I am finishing my contract with Baskonia,” the big man of Baskonia said in The Triple Threat Show.

“It is unfortunate that things have happened this way, but I am not going anywhere – people like it or not. I will be a free agent in the summer and we will go from there. But I am honoring my contract.”
