Panathinaikos: Kendrick Nunn praises Zeljko Obradovic – “I have a ton of respect for him”

Panathinaikos superstar guard Kendrick Nunn helped the Greens rally past Partizan at home Thursday night (96-84) and extend its winning streak to five games.

The American star guard had 25 points, on 10/16 shooting, along with two rebounds, four assists and one steal for a PIR of 24.

After the game, he talked about a lot of things, including Partizan (and former Panathinaikos) head coach Zeljko Obradovic, having high praise for the legendary Serbian coach.

“I have a ton of respect for him as a coach and a person. We’ve never met personally, but for him to just embrace me at that moment it meant a lot. I was frustrated… Anger high, emotions high, and he just came to me, kind of healed me, trying to keep me calm, telling me to just calm down, and it definitely helped a little bit. So, I thank him for it,” Kendrick Nunn said. [h/t Basketnews.com]

Earlier in the week, Zeljko Obradovic had called Kendrick Nunn the best player in the EuroLeague, with the former NBA player being a prime candidate for the MVP award.

After the win, Panathinaikos improved to 13-7 in the standings and stayed next to the top, while Partizan dropped to 9-11.
