Filip Petrusev had a career night on Friday, when he helped Crvena Zvezda defeat Monaco in an overtime thriller at home (88-82). The Serbian big man had a career-high 29 points, on 10/11 shooting, along with six rebounds for a PIR of 32.
After the game, Filip Petrusev was pleased with the way he played and helped his team earn a big home win and was hopeful that he would be able to play even better going forward.
“It’s silly that I scored 29 instead of 30 points. Just kidding, of course, but I hope it gets even better in the future — maybe even this season. It means a lot to play well in general. It was important for me to play better defense compared to the last game. I know I can attack well, but covering everything defensively is very important. I always like to help the team. My teammates told me, ‘Welcome back.’ Okay, I’ve never scored this many points, but I’m back in offensive form. The guys are happy, as always,” Filip Petrusev said afterwards. [h/t Eurohoops.net]
The Serbian big man has averages of 13.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists for a PIR of 17.0 this season for a Crvena Zvezda team that is currently tied with Monaco, Panathinaikos and Barcelona for fourth in the standings with a 13-9 record, and has won five of its last six.
