Even though Victor Wembanyama is expected to play for France in the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket in September, this might not be the case for Rudy Gobert.
This is what the NBA star big man said, keeping all options open regarding his participation in the event.
“I haven’t made a decision yet. It will depend on the season, my body, my health, and all that… We’ll see. There are actually a lot of factors. It’s true that I also just had a baby who’s 9 months old now. All of that has to be taken into account. We’ll see by the end of the season,” Rudy Gobert said during a beIN Sports interview. France is a step away from qualifying for the final stage. At 4-0, they need just one win against Bosnia and Croatia in the final qualifying windown in late February.
A four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert has already won six medals with France, most recently claiming the silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
This season, the Minnesota Timberwolves center is averaging 10.5 points and 10.2 rebounds in 49 appearances.
