The Philadelphia 76ers want to keep Guerschon Yabusele with the team on a new deal, as the former Real Madrid forward will be a free agent in the summer. The franchise considers Yabusele a key member of the core and will do its best to re-sign him in the summer.
“I don’t think you can ever be confident in an unrestricted free agent, but we feel very good. We love him. We just freed up more with Caleb Martin’s contract going out, we freed up more room for the future. So we feel very good about retaining Yabu,” team president Daryl Morey said. [h/t Basketnews.com]
Guerschon Yabusele is on an expiring contract, after signing an one-year, $2 million contract with the Sixers last summer. He has career-high averages of 11.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 50 games for Philadelphia, on 40.2 percent from beyond the arc.
The Sixers continue to struggle and are currently 11th in the East with a 20-34 record, tied with the Brooklyn Nets. Philadelphia has lost its last five games and trails the 10th-placed Chicago Bulls by one and a half games (22-33).
