Vasilije Micic is expected to return to Europe after the conclusion of the NBA season. The Hornets guard, however, seems to be far away from a return to his beloved Anadolu Efes.
According to the interview that Efes’ sports director Ismail Senol gave for HT Spor, the team is unable to match the offer for the Serbian guard.
“Vasilije Micic is the part of our family, we love him a lot. We’re constantly in talks with him, he’ll arrive to Istanbul later in May,” Senol admitted.
He’s a very important part of Efes’ history, not a free agent yet as he has an option year in the NBA. He will be 32 next year and it’s sensible that he is looking for a big contract in this point of his career.”
“We already have Shane Larkin and Darius Thompson, when you take a look at the payroll, we have financial regulations from next year, it’s not realistic, we can’t offer that much,” he noted.
“We never talked about the money with Micic, but when you see the numbers mentioned in the media, we simply can’t get in the fight with that.”
