Pablo Laso appears to be a frontrunner to replace Sergio Scariolo and become the new head coach of Spain after the end of the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket.
Per a report from Marca, Pablo Laso is expected to part ways with Baskonia even though he is under contract with the Basques through the summer of 2027. The club, though, will move to a different direction and hire former Trento coach Paolo Galbiati as the new head coach.
This will open the way for Laso to take over the Spanish national team, as Sergio Scariolo has officially announced that he will step down after the upcoming major FIBA tournament and has already been named the new head coach of Real Madrid.
