Jamal Murray on injury recovery: “It’s been a learning experience”

Jamal Murray broke his silence on what he experienced the last one and a half year recovering from a serious injury. The Nuggets’ guard tore his ACL early into the 2021 playoffs.

“It’s been a learning experience and a test of patience,” Murray told Michael Scotto HoopsHype. “Everything happens for a reason. I learned a lot, and I’m excited to be back out there.”

The Denver Nuggets will have to prove they are ready to compete for a championship next season with Michael Porter Jr. also back from injury. When Murray returns to action at the start of this season, it’ll mark 18 months since he last played.

“A championship mindset, a winning attitude, and raising everybody’s level of play,” Murray stated when he was asked about what he’ll bring to the table next season.  “That’s what I do best.”

The 25-year-old appeared in 48 games before his injury, averaging All-Star numbers across the board. He finished the 2020-21 season with averages of 21.2 points, 4.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 35 minutes per contest.

The Nuggets will have a lot to prove in the 2022-23 campaign, with a completely healthy squad and new additions to the roster. The Nuggets acquired Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith, and made the free agent additions of Bruce Brown and DeAndre Jordan.
