WNBA Playoffs: Sky cruises to record-breaking win over Liberty to tie series

Kahleah Copper scored 20 points and the Chicago Sky smooth-sailed to a comfortable 100-62 victory over the New York Liberty to tie series (1-1). The teams will play on Tuesday in New York with a trip to the WNBA semifinals at stake.

Courtney Vandersloot added 16 for the winning side, while Candace Parker added 12 points, 12 rebounds and four assists to help Sky rout their opponents. Chicago won by 36 and broke their own WNBA record for largest margin of victory in the playoffs.

With Chicago ahead 31-10, Copper had 10 points in the first quarter scoring at will. Copper suffered an ankle injury during Friday’s practice, but she was able to help her team cruise to victory Saturday.

Chicago extended the advantage in the second quarter to 31, playing relentless defence and cruising to a 52-28 halftime lead. Han Xu and Michaela Onyenwere each scored 10 points to lead New York.
