Celtics expected to bring back Al Horford next season on guaranteed money

Boston Celtics are expected to bring Al Horford back on a fully guaranteed contract regardless of what will happen in the NBA Finals. When Horford signed his deal with the Sixers back in 2019, they were some special initiatives in his contract.

The news were first reported by MassLive.com. The four-year deal was worth up to $109 million and had some partially guaranteed money ($14.5 million of $26.5 million) in the final year of the deal.

By making the NBA Finals, Horford has his 2022-23 salary guarantee jump from $14.5 million to $19.5 million. If he wins the NBA title with Boston he will be guaranteed the last year of his contract worth $26M.

According to MassLive, Horford will not have to wait long to receive this number. the Celtics are expected to bring Horford back and guarantee the full $26.5 million, no matter what happens in the NBA Finals.

Horford made his presence felt with his leadership and his great play during the regular season and the playoffs. The 35-years-old center appeared in 69 regular season games with the Celtics averaging 10.2 points and 7.7 rebounds.

He amped up his numbers during the postseason averaging 11.9 points and 9.6 rebounds through 17 games. He shot 43.9 percent from deep, having to defend against high-usage superstar players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.
