EuroLeague Rumors: Mike Tobey on FC Barcelona’s radar

Mike Tobey is on FC Barcelona’s radar, per Aris Barkas of Eurohoops. The former Valencia Basket big man is with Slovenia NT ahead of the FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers and Eurobasket 2022.

Tobey parted with Valencia after six seasons where he assumed a big role as the team’s starting center. Tobey received the Slovenian passport, and he was part of the Slovenian NT which won the Eurobasket 2017.

It’s still unclear if the interest in Tobey has been generated after Nikola Mirotic Achilles injury. FC Barcelona announced the star forward will follow a recovery process for a few weeks.

The statement did not give any timetable on Mirotic. However, there is speculation the star forward could miss a big part of the start in the EuroLeague and ACB season. Barcelona has already bolstered its front court with Jan Vesely and Oscar Da Silva.
