Greece NT started its training camp ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers and the EuroBasket 2022 and team’s star center Giorgos Papagiannis is eager to succeed with the team and why not help the team win a medal in the upcoming competition.
“I will be satisfied if I know that everyone, including myself, has given 100% and of course I will be happy if we manage to win a medal at EuroBasket,” the Panathinaikos center said in a recent interview.
Papagiannis is coming off a breakout year with Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague, and while he is sidelined for the first few days with a minor injury, but he’s expected to be available in the preparation games ahead of the FIBA BWC qualifiers and the EuroBasket.
“Of course, we will have to focus first on the important games for the World Cup qualifiers but winning a medal at the next EuroBasket will be a dream come true,” Papagiannis stated.
The dynamic big will be an essential part of what Greek NT would do in the next month. The former Kings’ center averaged career highs across the board last season, putting 10.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per contest in 29 EuroLeague games.
Greece will travel to Milano in late August for the group stage of the EuroBasket, where they will take on hosts Italy, Estonia, Great Britain, Ukraine and Croatia.
