Ergin Ataman expects Shane Larkin to make season debut Friday

Ergin Ataman provided an update on the status of star guard Shane Larkin ahead of Friday’s home game vs Panathinaikos.

The head coach of Anadolu Efes expects Larkin to return to practice on Thursday and then make his season debut on Friday vs the “Greens”.

“He’s in the US right now for his final checkups. He will come to Istanbul on Wednesday and will practice with the team on Thursday,” Ergin Ataman said, via Eurohoops.net.

“We expect him to play on Friday as well. He will not instantly play like the real Larkin but we will regain our strength with his participation.”

Shane Larkin has been out since early September when he had finger surgery after getting injured in the group stage of the 2022 EuroBasket. He returned to action a couple of weeks ago, but suffered another injury in a domestic league game and has been out since then.

Larkin’s return will help Anadolu Efes maintain a playoff push and climb higher in the standings. The two-time defending EuroLeague champions currently are seventh with a 7-7 record.
