Nick Calathes explains why he joined Fenerbahce – “A better chance of winning the EuroLeague”

Nick Calathes decided to part ways with Barcelona in the summer and joined fellow EuroLeague powerhouse Fenerbahce.

Despite attracting interest from several EuroLeague teams, the Greek guard thought that signing with the Turkish powerhouse would offer him a better chance of winning the championship.

“At this point in my career, I thought that I would have a better chance of winning the EuroLeague with Fenerbahce.

With all due respect to the Panathinaikos organization and Dimitris Giannakopoulos. I will never forget that the ‘Green family’ had a major role in forming me as the player I’ve become and the career I’ve had.  As far as I know, yes (asked about Panathinaikos and Olympiacos’ interest to sign him)! Along with some other European teams.

But the presence of Dimitris Itoudis and the overall plan of Fenerbahce brought me to Istanbul,” Nick Calathes said in an interview with Gazzetta.gr.
