Michael Malone calls Nuggets’ NBA Finals appearance ‘the biggest challenge of our lives’

Michael Malone and the Denver Nuggets are preparing for their first NBA Finals appearance, as they take on the Miami Heat in a best-of-seven series that tips off on Thursday, June 1st.

Denver head coach expects a difficult series against a Miami team that has exceeded expectations this offseason after becoming just the second No.8 seed in history to reach the NBA Finals.

“This is going to be the biggest challenge of our lives … and that’s the way it should be,” Michael Malone said during the Nuggets’ Media Day ahead of Game 1.

The Nuggets are aiming for their first NBA title in franchise history, after finishing the year as the top seed in the West and eliminating the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns and the LA Lakers in the previous rounds.

The Heat were the No.8 seed in the Eastern Conference and eliminated the team with the bets record in the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks (58-24), the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics.

Against the Celtics, they nearly blew a 3-0 lead before they finally ended Boston’s season in Game 7 on Monday (103-84).
