EuroLeague rumors: Nikola Mirotic emerges as top candidate to replace Sasha Vezenkov in Olympiacos

Nikola Mirotic has emerged as a top candidate to replace Sasha Vezenkov in Olympiacos’ roster, according to several reports.

The Montenegrin forward is  close to terminating his contract with Barcelona and has already discussed the possibility of a partnership with the “Reds” head coach Giorgos Bartzokas, per Arale Weisberg of Walla Sport.

If Nikola Mirotic joins the Greek powerhouse, he will come as Sasha Vezenkov’s replacement, after the decision of the 2023 EuroLeague MVP to move to the NBA and sign with the Sacramento Kings.

After Vezenkov’s departure, Olympiacos has enough money to offer Nikola Mirotic, but it is still unclear how advanced the talks are between the two sides and when the 2022 EuroLeague MVP will officially part ways with Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Kostas Sloukas will meet with Olympiacos’ owners on Monday, July 3rd, to discuss his future with the club, Dimitris Oikonomou from Gazzetta.gr reports.

The Greek star guard is a free agent and has attracted interest from Fenerbahce and Partizan, as he is reportedly unhappy with his role in the “Reds”. So far, the “Reds” have signed Nigel Williams-Goss and Nikola Milutinov.
