Mike Brown praises Sasha Vezenkov’s growth following Kings’ win

Sasha Vezenkov has returned to the Sacramento Kings rotation in the last two games and he made a huge impact in his team’s 120-132 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Vezenkov was praised by Kings’ head coach Mike Brown after the game.

Vezenkov finished the contest by tying his career high with 11 points hitting three 3s in the process through the first and the third quarter of Monday’s contest. Brown, who earned his 400th win in his NBA career as a head coach, proceeded to praise Sasha Vezenkov’s ability to open the floor for his teammates.

“Sasha (Vezenkov) has a great feel for the game of basketball on both ends. He hit some big shots tonight and to have a guy like that on the floor gives everybody else a lot of room.”

Brown also said that Vezenkov has the ability to do the little things, praising his tactical prowess and his physicality, when he rebounds, defends and then runs the floor to get the chance of an open look.

“The more he plays, it seemed like the better he’s gotten for us, even defensively. He understands angles, he’s a big strong physical guy so he can take a hit, and he works really hard, I think that sky’s the limit for him,” Brown concluded on Sasha Vezenkov.

The Kings (5-4) are getting better and better in every game having back De’Aaron Fox who missed two weeks of action due to a sprained ankle. With that said, Vezenkov will have to keep working hard as Sacramento has a very deep roster this year.

The Kings signed Sasha Vezenkon to a 3-year deal worth around $20M this past summer after being named the 2023 EuroLeague MVP by averaging 17.6 points and seven rebounds in 33 games.

For the current season —his first in the NBA— Sasha Vezenkov averages 5.6 points and 2.0 rebounds through seven appearances.
