Pistons become first team with 27th straight losses in a season

The Detroit Pistons could not avoid the dismal fate of becoming the first team to suffer 27 straight losses in a single NBA season. Despite the fact that Detroit held the lead (97-92) early in the fourth quarter vs, Brooklyn, the Nets finished the game strong and added to the Pistons’ misery.

Cade Cunningham did everything in his power to put a stop to his team’s losing streak putting up 41 points, nine rebounds and five assists. The Pistons’ young superstar sent a strong message of unity after the dismal 27th loss.

“Don’t drop off the boat. Right now, it’s the easiest time to standoff and being on your own. We need to continue to lean on each other, push each other, hold each other accountable more than ever now,” Cunningham noted.

The Pistons will have to continue pursuing a much-needed win in the coming days. The longest losing streak ever is held by the Philadelphia 76ers at 28 games but it was expanded between two seasons.

Detroit will meet the top-seeded Celtics on the road before coming back home to face the Toronto Raptors at the end of the week in order to avoid having the longest losing streak in the history of the NBA.
