Milan keeps postseason hopes alive; Baskonia gets much-needed win – EuroLeague Round 28

EuroLeague Round 28 came to an end with Olimpia Milan getting the victory over Partizan in the headlined of Friday’s action. Milan kept its postseason hopes alive after a thriller that was decided in the final moments of the game.

In the other contest that took place on Friday night, Baskonia smooth-sailed through ALBA Berlin and got an important win to keep themselves inside the play-in race. Cody Miller-McIntyre made a great impression with another passing clinic in a must-win game for Baskonia as we enter the last part of the EuroLeague regular season.

In the opening game of the night, Panathinaikos run away with the victory against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne at OAKA and continued to hover around the top-3 in the EuroLeague standings.

Olimpia Milan (12-16) vs Partizan Belgrade (13-15) 85-83

Key to victory: It was a back-and-forth thriller in Mediolanum Forum as Milan was able to slip away from Partizan. The Italians made 16 of their 31 three-point attempts including one from Milan superstar Shabbazz Napier which put his ahead, 81-80, with 1:29 on the clock. Napier scored Milan’s final 7 points to keep the team afloat during the closing moments.

Top Performers: Despite Napier’s big plays at the end, Nikola Mirotic and Shavon Shields were the top scorers for the winning side with 19 points. Napier as Milan’s point guard finished with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists, while Devon Hall added 18. For Partizan Belgrade, that dropped to 3-12 on the road in the EuroLeague, Aleksa Avramovic posted 19 points.

Baskonia (15-13) vs ALBA Berlin (5-23) 88-71

Key to victory: Baskonia shot a gargantuan 77 percent on 2-pointers while keeping ALBA Berlin to 26 percent on 3-point attemtps. Baskonia started the first period by outscoring the Germans 23-10 and never looked back as the Spaniards dominated from the beginning to end.

Top Performers: Codi Miller-McIntyre stood out with 14 points, 10 assists and 4 rebounds. A balanced team effort resulted in Chima Moneke pour in 16 points for the home side, Vanja Mainkovic added 15 while Matt Costello posted 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. For ALBA Berlin, Matt Thomas and Khalifa Koumadje paced the team with 12 points.
