EuroLeague: 3 teams that should have interest in Tyler Dorsey

Officially, Tyler Dorsey remains with Fenerbahce amid an up and down season. A recent cryptic tweet by the Greek-American guard last week sparked rumors around his future with his current club. According to several Greek media reports, Dorsey is expected to become a free agent this summer.

EuroLeague regular season is coming to an end soon with many teams remaining engaged in the postseason picture. However, they are already rumors regarding the upcoming summer despite the season is in full effect and the games become more and more crucial for each team.

Tyler Dorsey has been steadily good during the time he hits the floor. He made 28 appearances in the EuroLeague, but played just 11 games in the Turkish BSL. Dorsey is posting 9.2 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists shooting 47.6% from three and 42.4% on twos through 28 games.

Without further ado, here are three EuroLeague teams that should make a move for the sharpshooting guard.

Saski Baskonia

Baskonia is a real paradise for happy-go-lucky shooter like Tyler Dorsey. The Spaniards might be the best fit for a player like Dorsey, who was part of more team-oriented projects during his best seasons of his career. Dorsey seems to be the player that could elevated the already scorching offense in the Basque Country alongside Markus Howard and Chima Moneke.

Let’s not forget that, the Spaniards were the start of the road for many great scorers in the EuroLeague including the league’s All-time scorer Mike James and the two-time EuroLeague champion Shane Larkin.

Panathinaikos

If Tyler Dorsey officially becomes a free agent, then expect the Greek clubs to be interested. In any case, the Greek passport is an important asset and the package that Dorsey brings with him is more than enough to secure him a good deal. That said, Panathinaikos transfer rumors has already flourished in the Greek media.

The  “Greens” should definitely watch the situation around the former Olympiacos guard especially if Kendrick Nunn decides to move back to the US. Nunn was clearly a one-year signing when he joined the Greek giants, but the role and the money that can obtain from the club could be a factor in extending his stay.

In any case, even if Kendrick Nunn is able to remain in Greece, Tyler Dorsey will be a great addition to an undermanned guard rotation that consists of Kostas Sloukas and Jerian Grant.

Anadolu Efes

Anadolu Efes is hoping to return to contention next season and bringing in a big name alongside Shane Larkin if he remains with the club could be the move to make. Larkin hasn’t signed a new deal so far, but Efes will likely start from hiring a new head coach. There are already reports about a potential deal with Xavi Pascual. A high profile coach will make a huge difference in the offseason.

That said, Tyler Dorsey is fitting great alongside Shane Larkin if he opts to stay. His ability to create offense will bring back Efes’ two-headed backcourt that can run defenses out of the building.

While defensive deficiencies have hurt Efes chances for a better position in the standings, creating a dominant offensive duo and building around them could be the answer in their struggles.
