Jimmy Butler out for multiple weeks

Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler was diagnosed with an MCL sprain after going down with an injury during the 7/8 play-in clash vs. the Philadelphia 76ers. The veteran star remained on the floor for three quarters but was apparently injured and never got into the game as the Heat fell to the Sixers 104-105.

Ahead of the do-or-die game against the Chicago Bulls, it was reported that Jimmy Butler will miss multiple weeks of action. As a result, Butler is sidelined for Friday’s contest and he will be sidelined even if the Heat are able to secure a spot in the NBA playoffs. The injury was a result of Kelly Oubre landing on his foot after Butler faked out an attempt for a layup.

“I fell, he landed and my knee just didn’t do well, I guess,” Butler said after the loss to Philadelphia, per ESPN. “I don’t know. It’s not a good feeling, I can tell you that.”

In 30 minutes with an apparent knee injury, Butler had 13 points, three assists, three rebounds and three steals. Playing through it might have worsened the issue for Butler who is set to miss a great amount of time in a crucial part of the season. With a playoff spot at stake, the Heat will have to play without their superstar.

Let’s not forget that Miami is constantly part of the playoff picture since the arrival of Jimmy Butler and his injury hurt the Heat’s effort for a potential deep run in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
