2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers (Day 2): Greece snatches late victory vs Turkey

The February window of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup continued Friday with several big matchups and various surprising results.

In Greece, the Greek NT survived a great clash vs Turkey to claim a 72-71 victory. In a game of runs, the home site had the upper hand in the end. The Greek NT improved to 2-1 and became the first team to earn two wins in Group B

European champions Slovenia dropped an important one as Finland cruised past with an 86-76 victory. Sweden was able to secure a 70-64 win over Croatia, who was brought to the brink of elimination with three losses. In Group C, Finland, Slovenia and Sweden are all tied at 2-1.

For Group A, Serbia downed Slovakia 75-63 and doubled its victories. On the other matchup of the Group, Latvia edged out Belgium away from home (65-66). Serbia, Latvia and Belgium are all tied at the top with a 2-1 record.

In Group D, German NT grabbed a crucial 67-71 victory over Israel to improve to 2-1 alongside their Friday’s opponents and Estonia, who downed Poland at home (75-71).

Day 3 of the European qualifiers continue Sunday Feb.29.
