Czech Republic beats Israel; advance to round of 16 to face Greece

The Czech Republic beat Israel 88-77 and qualified for the EuroBasket 2022 Round of 16 in Berlin. Tomas Satoransky had his best game in the competition registering a double-double of 14 points and 11 assists. Satoransky is not at 100 percent after suffering an injury before the start of the tournament.

Vojtech Hruban was the best player in the court with 25 points on 9-13 shooting and 10 of those points coming in the fourth quarter, where the Czechs outscored Israel 21-15. Jan Vesely also had an all-around performance with 16 poiints, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

A dominant first half from the Czech Republic closed at 53-37. Israel responded in the third quarter with Deni Avdija recovering from a tough first half to lead his team to a 14-25 run. However, Satoransky and Hruban used a huge fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Avdija finished with 12 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds, while Yam Madar added 16. Israel concluded its participation in the tournament with a 2-3 record finishing 5th in Group D. The Czechs advanced as the 4th team and they will face Greece in the round of 16.
