Emmanuel Lecomte was the best player of Belgium, but couldn’t help his team avoid a loss to Slovenia in the EuroBasket Round of 16.

Lecomte finished the game with 16 points, on 7/11 shooting, and 4 rebounds, but the Slovenians stood tall in the fourth and earned the 88-72 win.

The 27-year-old point guard spoke with Hedgeout.net in the Mixed Zone after the end of the game and made it clear that he is very proud of the way Belgium competed in the tournament.

Emmanuel Lecomte also liked the fact that his team never gave up and did his best to beat its opponents both in the must-win game vs Bulgaria in the group stage and the elimination game vs Slovenia.

The explosive guard, who averaged 14 points and 3.3 assists in the EuroBasket, is hopeful Belgium will clinch its spot to the coming major FIBA tournaments.

For their part, the Slovenians advanced to the quarter-finals and will now take on the winner of Sunday’s game between Ukraine and Poland.
