Despite missing the chance to defend its EuroBasket title, Slovenia is not set to make changes to its roster and staff.
Both head coach Aleksandar Sekulic and superstar Luka Doncic are set to return to the national team for the coming FIBA tournaments (2023 Basketball World Cup, 2024 Olympic Games).
“Aleksander Sekulic has a contract with us until the end of next year. He is an excellent coach. I repeat, he has a contract. But this statement is normal.
After such championships, analysis is required. Even if they were champions, that would be necessary,” the president of the Slovenian Basketball Federation, Matej Erjavec, said.
For his part, Doncic took responsibility for the defeat and noted that he will return to the team for future tournaments provided that he is healthy.
Slovenia faced a major upset in the EuroBasket, as they lost to Poland in the quarter-final (87-90) and got eliminated.
