NBA stars Karl-Anthony Towns and Al Horford headline the Dominican Republic’s preliminary roster for the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
“There’s a mutual interest [between Towns and the federation], and we exchange messages on the phone every day,” the Federation president Rafael Uribe told radio show Diamante Deportivo regarding Karl-Anthony Towns’ participation in the tournament.

If Towns plays in the Basketball World Cup, it will be the first time in 10 years that he will play for the national team. Meanwhile, Al Horford has been a member of the Dominican Republic national team since 2008. In 2011, he won a bronze medal at the FIBA Americas Championship and earned All-Tournament Team honors.
The Dominican Republic will travel to Manila, Philippines to take on the hosts, Angola and Italy in Group A.
