Steve Kerr had nothing but good words to say about Anthony Edwards, who erupted for 34 points in Team USA’s 99-91 preparation win over Germany on Sunday.
The superstar of the Minnesota Timberwolves was brilliant, making 11 of 21 shots and going 8 of 8 from the line, outscoring the rest of Team USA starters by nine points (34 to 25).
“That was the best game I’ve had in a minute,” Anthony Edwards said. “He’s unquestionably the guy. He knows it. Now the rest of the team knows it,” Steve Kerr said after the game.
Edwards helped Team USA erase a 16-point deficit (71-55) in the third, as the Americans took over in the fourth and turned things around, cruising to the victory and staying unbeaten in preparation games (5-0).
Team USA now shifts its attention to the FIBA World Cup and will take on New Zealand in Group C opener on Saturday, August 26. Meanwhile, Germany will play hosts Japan Friday in Okinawa.
