The Los Angeles Lakers have ruled two of their three superstars out for Monday’s road clash with the Brooklyn Nets.
LeBron James (left ankle soreness) and Anthony Davis (right foot stress injury) are dealing with injuries and the team wants to protect them as they are fighting to re-enter the playoff race.
After their tough road overtime loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday (121-125), the Lakers continue their road trip and the absence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis is more of a precautionary measure for the 17-time NBA champions.
Five Lakers players will miss Monday’s contest, while Brooklyn has ruled four players out, while Ben Simmons (left knee soreness) and T.J. Warren (left shin contusion) are questionable and doubtful, respectively.
The Nets have won four of their last 10 games and are fourth in the East standings with a 30-19 record. Meanwhile, the Lakers are 13th in the West (23-27), two games behind the Utah Jazz (26-26), who hold the final play-in spot.
